Samsung skipped Bixby at its big Galaxy AI launch, but that’s changing soon, Samsung says.
When Samsung first started deploying AI features to sell its phones, the company didn’t integrate anything new with Bixby. That’s despite the fact that many other companies, including Google, are using AI to innovate voice assistants. At the time, Samsung only said that it wouldn’t be shutting down Bixby, but there were no real plans for what would happen next.
Now Samsung gives us an update.
Speak with CNBCSamsung’s TM Roh says the company will “improve Bixby with [the] application of Gen AI technology.”
The company’s work on this was reported earlier this year and is said to be based on Samsung’s own LLM. A focus of the upgrade is on natural language and will reportedly “redefine” what Bixby is. What that means is still unclear.
Max Jambor, a reliable tipster for Samsung, also mentioned these plans, saying they will happen “in the near future.”
