Galaxy AI could get WhatsApp conversation language translation

Earlier this year, Samsung introduced Galaxy AI, a suite of AI-powered features designed to help users improve their daily lives. One such feature is Live Translate, a real-time language translation tool for voice calls. Now, Galaxy AI is also set to get WhatsApp language translation.

A few days ago, Samsung announced that it would be bringing real-time language translation to third-party apps. Now, the feature will soon be compatible with WhatsApp, the world’s most popular instant messaging and calling app. Tipster Ice Universe has revealed that WhatsApp language translation for calling is coming to compatible Galaxy phones.

This compatibility could be announced during Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event, which is set to take place on July 10. At the event, Samsung will announce the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and the Galaxy Z Fold 6. Both phones will run One UI 6.1. 1 out of the box, and the Live Translate feature for WhatsApp voice calls could debut with the new version of One UI.

In the video below you can see how the Live Translate feature works during voice calls.

On compatible phones, the Live Translate feature works on the device, meaning your data is processed locally on your phone. The data isn’t sent to servers, so it stays secure and private. In addition to WhatsApp, Samsung could also bring the feature to Google Meet and WeChat. We’ll have to wait for an official announcement, though.

Samsung also offers real-time language translation in the default Messages app and third-party messaging apps (including WhatsApp) on Galaxy AI-enabled devices. The company also developed Interpreter Mode for situations where you’re conversing with people face-to-face, and that gets improvements with One UI 6.1.1.

With all these translation features, Samsung aims to reduce language barriers and improve communication between people.
