Valley Village homeowner shoots, wounds intruder, LAPD says

VALLEY VILLAGE, LOS ANGELES (KABC) — A Valley Village homeowner shot and wounded one of two people who tried to break into his home, police said.

The incident happened just after 3 p.m. Monday in the 11600 block of Addison Street. Police say it appears a resident shot a 25-year-old man who was trying to break into the home. It’s unclear whether he had a burglary or other motive.

The man, described as conscious and breathing, was taken to a local hospital. He was shot twice.

Police were setting up a perimeter in a search for a second suspect, who they say is a man in his 20s wearing a blue hoodie and face mask. K9 units were on the scene.

The resident was medically examined and taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. He was placed on a stretcher in an ambulance.

The shooting happened near Colfax Charter Elementary. The campus was briefly locked down as a precaution, but the incident was not related to the school itself, a school police spokesman said.
