Max Verstappen has been summoned by the stewards of the Hungarian Grand Prix due to the late conflict with Lewis Hamilton.
Verstappen was already frustrated by Red Bull’s strategic decisions, which left him in fifth place after the final pit stop. He passed Charles Leclerc’s Ferrari for fourth and then began closing in on Hamilton’s Mercedes in third.
On lap 63 of 70, Verstappen attempted to dive on the inside of Turn 1, but braked too hard and his left rear collided with Hamilton’s right front.
Verstappen was thrown into the air and lost his position to Leclerc, finishing fifth in a clash with the second Ferrari of Carlos Sainz, while Hamilton secured his 200th career podium behind Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris.
Verstappen has been summoned to the stewards for causing the collision at 17:50 local time. He has already been acquitted in an investigation into driving too wide in Turn 1 on the first lap and passing Norris.
By handing the position back to the Briton, Verstappen avoided a penalty.
