Keenan Allen: Rome Odunze is a little better than I was as a rookie

Keenan Allen was selected in the third round of the 2013 NFL draft by the Chargers and it didn’t take long for him to show that he would become a productive player.

Allen posted 71 catches for 1,046 yards and eight touchdowns during his rookie season and would continue to put up big numbers during his time with the AFC West club. That run ended this offseason with a trade to the Bears and Allen now finds himself playing with a rookie wideout who entered the league with more fanfare.

Rome Odunze was selected 10th overall in the draft and Allen said at a press conference on Sunday that Odunze is a more advanced prospect than when he entered the professional ranks.

“He is a little bit better “He’s faster. I think he’s better off breaking than I was when I came in,” Allen said. “He’s faster. I think he’s better off breaking than I was when I was younger. He looks more polished than I was as a receiver.”

Odunze may be further along than Allen as a rookie, but Allen’s numbers could be tough to match. DJ Moore is also part of the receiving corps, meaning Caleb Williams will have a number of options when he’s throwing the ball in the air, and it appears they’ll all be good options thanks to the Bears’ commitment to improving their offense this offseason.
